Issue Details

I get an access error when I attempt to build my LabWindows™/CVI debug executable to a network location or remote server. I get the message: Build failed, cannot overwrite debug executable.

Solution

Ensure proper file permissions (full read/write) are enabled on the location you are attempting to build the executable to. This can be checked from Right-Click >> Properties.

If using LabWindows/CVI 2013, there is a known bug that causes issues building to network drive. This issue was corrected in the LabWindows/CVI 2013 f1 patch.

Depending on various factors like network speed and security settings, the network drive could be displaying a delayed delete when trying to delete the old debug executable file before building the new one. This can occur with large builds. In this case, resolve the error by building to a local directory.
