Issue Details

I have a real-time controller from National Instruments, and I would like to know if I can use it with NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT®. How can I tell if it is compatible?

Solution

To see if your controller is compatible, check the readme for the newest version of NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT. It will list the compatible controllers and their corresponding versions of the driver that will be compatible.

Additional Information

Controllers require at least 2 Ethernet ports to use NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT. Some controllers allow the addition of more Ethernet interfaces that can communicate over EtherCAT. For example, you can add a PXI-8231 into your chassis and configure it to use EtherCAT.

If you're adding a second Ethernet interface, check the readme for your driver to make sure that your Ethernet interface is compatible with your version of the driver.
