Error The License File Is Unavailable on Localhost opening LabVIEW 7.1

Issue Details

Although it is unsupported, I am running LabVIEW 7.1 on a Windows 7 computer. When I open LabVIEW I receive the following error:

The License File Is Unavailable on Localhost

How can I open LabVIEW without this error?


To resolve this error you must manually point LabVIEW 7.1 to the appropriate license file. To do so:
  1. Launch NI License Manager
  2. Select Options >> Install License File..
  3. Browse to directory: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\License Manager\Licenses
  4. Select LabVIEW_LabVIEW_070100.lic
  5. Open LabVIEW

This is not a supported software configuration and therefore has not been tested or approved by National Instruments.
