Issue Details

I have a computer with LabWindows™/CVI that everything was worked without problem.
Suddenly LabWindows™/CVI crashes and receive Windows Error Message "LabWindows/CVI.exe has stopped Working".

The following event is found in the Windows Event Viewer under Application Logs: "The description for Event ID <####> from source LabWindows/CVI cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer."

What to do?

LabWindows™/CVI may crash due to several reasons:
  • Log in as Administrator and Run LabWindows™/CVI as Administrator.
  • NI Services are not running
  1. Go to Start»Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services.
  2. Check that the following services are running:
    • NI Network Discovery
    • NI mDNS Responder Service
  3. If these services are stopped, right-click on the service and click Start.
  4. Launch LabWindows™/CVI again to see if the hang is resolved.
  • LabWindows/CVI environment setting changes.
