Issue Details

  • I can not connect myRIO to my PC. NI myRIO USB Monitor start page does not appear after connecting myRIO. It does not shown up under Remote Systems in NI MAX, but I can find it in Device Manger as a «USB\VID_3923&PID_762F\XXXXXXXX» USB device or as a "Generic USB-EEM Adapter". How can I fix this?
  • My cRIO expansion Chassis (NI- 9149) appears as "Disconnected" in NI-MAX. Windows Device Manager says it does not have a driver. It shows up in Device Manager as "NI-9149-XXXXXXXX” where XXXXXXXX is a serial number of my chassis. It is connected via USB.

Solution

After each of the following steps, check whether myRIO is recognised:
  • Go to the Device Manager, try to find an item that contains the serial number of your device such as «USB\VID_3923&PID_762F\XXXXXXXX» where XXXXXXXX is a serial number of your device. It may also appear as «Generic USB-EEM Adapter».  Delete this item, then remove the USB cable from the PC and insert it back.
  • Reset the MAX Database . Then remove the USB cable from the PC and insert it back.
  • Try manual driver installation
    • Go to the Device Manager, find a «USB\VID_3923&PID_762F\XXXXXXXX» or «Generic USB-EEM Adapter» or another device that contains the serial number of your device.
    • Right-click on the device description and choose "Update Driver Software...",
    • Choose "Browse my computer for driver software (Locate and install driver software manually)
    • Direct it to C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\CompactRIO\Staging\USBLAN\Win7 at Search for driver software in this location textbox and finish driver updating. Note, that Windows may display a message stating that this driver did not pass the test, select continue. Windows should install the driver successfully
  • In Device Manager under Network Adapters, right-click National Instruments USBLAN Adapter and enable this device if it is disabled.
