Issue Details

When I plug a monitor into the video output on my PXI controller with a real-time operating system the monitor indicates no video connection. How can I get the video output on my PXI RT controller working?

Solution

Plug the monitor in then restart the controller.

Additional Information

In Windows and other non-deterministic operating systems, the OS is constantly polling to check if there are any new devices (such as monitors) detected. However, many real-time operating systems only check for connected hardware at boot. This is done to reserve processor resources for time-critical tasks. That is why connecting the monitor and then rebooting allows for a successful video connection with the controller.
