Issue Details

I am on an operating system that does not allow me to use the Modular Instrument drivers, such as NI-DMM or NI-SCOPE, but I would still like to get some functionality out of these instruments. Is there a way to interface with these devices manually by either calling low-level VISA commands or an IVI driver?

Solution

While some of the commands in the Modular Instruments drivers may use low-level VISA calls, National Instruments does not release an API or the exact syntax of these calls, meaning this will not be a viable method of manual communication.

The IVI driver for National Instruments Modular Instruments still requires the corresponding Modular Instruments driver in order to function properly.

If your operating system does not support the Modular Instruments drivers, the only realistic solutions will be to either forego the use of the instruments or move to a different operating system.
