Issue Details

  • I have recently upgraded my LabVIEW Application Development Environment (ADE) from LabVIEW 8.5.1 to the latest version. After upgrading I am not able to use the NI cRIO Profibus Module or the module is not recognized in my LabVIEW Project. How to resolve this issue?
  • I get a "Module Creation Conflict" error message when adding a Kunbus PB Module to a cRIO-904x

Solution

To use the NI cRIO Profibus Module (cRIO-PB-MS) with the latest versions of LabVIEW you should install or upgrade your existing Profibus driver to the latest cRIO-PB-MS by KUNBUS GmbH version. The driver installs Profibus Master and Slave support for LabVIEW and brings Configurator III to setup the Profibus Master module (PBMS). The latest NI cRIO PROFIBUS driver also adds support for LabVIEW Real-Time.

With cRIO-904x

If your already had Configurator on your machine when updating the driver, uninstall Configurator III through Windows, and then reinstall the latest version through VI Package Manager.

If this is the first time you install Configurator you can simply run the installation of the latest driver in VI Package Manager and confirm Configurator III gets installed

Additional Information

  • The NI PB cRIO 2.0.7 is the first version of the driver that bears the "Kunbus" branding, overwriting the previous "Comsoft" branding. For more information about this rebranding, see COMSOFT & KUNBUS Differences in PROFINET & PROFIBUS Hardware & Drivers .
  • The first driver that adds support for using 904x controllers is version 4.0.1.2. The minimum LabVIEW version required for this driver is 2018.
  • 905x controllers are not supported on the current latest version 4.0.1.2.
