Issue Details

I am trying to take a differential voltage measurement on an NI-9205, but when I input a negative voltage value that is within the specification of the device, all I display in LabVIEW is 0 volts. Why is this happening?

Solution

If you are reading 0V when you should be reading a negative value, then try the following troubleshooting steps:
  1. Try using a Test Panel to see if the behavior still occurs when you pass in known voltages
  2. In your LabVIEW code, make sure of the following
    1. Input Terminal Configuration is set as Differential
    2. Minimum and Maximum voltage values are set appropriately based on the voltage you are passing in.
  3. Make sure that the COM channel is wired to ground
