Issue Details

I am a software admin for my company, and I'd like to add new users in NI Volume License Manager so that they can access seats of TestStand software. When I add the group to a user in NI VLM, I cannot add them to NI Enterprise Software Control Plus, but the In Use section says that only 4 licenses are active. I have 12 seats of this software, so there should be 8 other licenses available.

Why can't I add these new users and how do I fix this?

Solution

There are a few reasons why this may have occurred.
  1. First, verify that you are adding the user to the correct group for the desired software. For example, you may be adding someone to access the NI Enterprise Software Control package, but the software they need to access falls under another package. In the case of TestStand, this would fall under the NI Enterprise Software Test package.
  2. Second, check that the license usage you expect aligns with the license model under which your company is using NI software. As described in the License Model Help documentation, Named User (non-concurrent) model assigns one license to one user, while the Named User Managed Concurrent model allows an unlimited number of users access to the software as long as only X instances are active / in use at a given time.
