Issue Details

The service mxs (NI Configuration Manager or mxssrv) continually takes so much CPU and hard drive resources that when I try to use another application like LabVIEW, it does not load nor executes properly. This is only happening on one of the test stations running the same LabVIEW application. It has been running fine now for several months until now. I have loaded the latest LabVIEW patches and a new computer BIOS. I also removed all connecting hardware and reloaded all NI related applications. What would cause this?

Solution

We have seen performance issues with the mxssrv service related to corruptions in the NI Measurement and Automaiton Explorer Database (NI MAX Database). To attempt to correct this, follow these steps  to reset and restore your NI MAX Database.
