Issue Details

I try to update my NI software through NI Update Service. Somehow I see lock icons next to my software(s). When I click one of these locked entries, I can see this error message:

This update requires a Standard Service Program subscription. Service was not found for this product.

How do I install these updates?

Solution

This warning is set in place to prevent NI Update Service to automatically download and install software that you might not be able to activate. To activate a software upgraded to a new version, e.g. from LabVIEW 2017 to 2018, an appropriate license is needed. Typically, this is a Standard Service Program (SSP) subscription. Patches, updates, and driver updated do normally not require re-activation or any license. In case you install a software upgrade and do not have a suited license, you can only use the software in evaluation mode.

In case you are not sure if you (still) have an active SSP subscription, you can log into your NI.com account and go to My Products and check your licenses, or contact NI Support and ask about the current status of your license.

You can get rid of the warning message by doing the following: Open NI Update Service, then navigate to File » Preferences, and check Unlock updates for which service is expired. Confirm the warning dialog afterwards, and click OK.

Now NI Update Service allows the installation of all software:
