Issue Details

I am using an NI-951x module and am getting fault FF08. I use the Clear Faults VI at the start of my SoftMotion application, but get error -70003 or error -70217 indicating that a fault has not been cleared. Why is this happening and how can I clear the fault?

Solution

The SoftMotion errors -70003 and -70217 indicate that a fault cannot be cleared, but do not indicate which fault has occurred. To investigate this, look at the interactive test panel to see if any of the axis are in an error state.

One cause of this is fault FF08 (description shown below), which requires a restart to clear. This restart requirement is expected behavior.

AKD: (AKD Fault: 526) Current sensor short circuit Restart the hardware device. If the issue persists, please contact National Instruments technical support.

NI 951x: The max stepper rate of this device has been exceeded Disconnect then reconnect power to the device to clear this fault status.
