Issue Details

I have a computer that doesn't have PCI slots in the motherboard. I want to use a PCI card though, so I'm using a PCIe to PCI bridge. The bridge makes the PCI card too large to fit in the computer though, so I'm also using a PCIe extender cable. When the PCI card is just plugged into the bridge, it shows up properly. When I use the extender cable, it shows up as a different PCIe card.

Solution

Using a bridge and an extender cable can have unexpected results when connecting a PCI card to a motherboard.
  • Try another extender cable.
  • Ensure the cable and bridge are installed properly, and not connected in a backwards configuration to the motherboard.
  • If possible, use a DAQ card that fits natively in your motherboard.
