Issue Details

I have custom steps based on the Sequence Call step that are preconfigured to point to a particular sequence file in TestStand to call a sequence. When creating a new instance of the step, I expect it to point to the file by default. This works properly in the computer where the step was created, but when I move the step and sequence files to another computer, TestStand is not able to find the files and I have to reconfigure the location of the file manually. How can I get TestStand to find the sequence file automatically without having to reconfigure it manually?

Solution

Depending on the configuration for the path, TestStand could attempt to find the file in the wrong location. to ensure that TestStand is able to find the files in the new environment:
  1. Go to the Sequence Call step that is failing to find the file and click in the Browse button for File Pathname.
  2. Check the status of the Use Absolute Path box
  • If the Use Absolute Path box in the Select Sequence File window is checked, make sure to place the sequence file that is not being found in the exact same path as it was in the original computer. This should allow TestStand to find the file accordingly. If this is not possible, consider unchecking the Use Absolute Path box and continue with the suggestions below.
  • If the Use Absolute Path box in the Select Sequence File window is not checked, make sure that the location for the file is included in the Search Directories in the new computer. To include the location of the file in the Search Directories as follows:
  1. Go to Configure>>Search Directories
  2. Click the Add button and navigate to the location of the file
  3. Click OK in the Select Directory window and then again in the Edit Search Directories window.
