Real-Time Target Software Install Hangs at Base.tar and Times Out

Issue Details

I am attempting to install software on my Real-Time Target, but it hangs at "Base.tar" and times out.

What can I do to fix this?


  • Format the Real-Time Target and try to install software again.
  • Ensure that any firewall (including network-based) or antivirus software on the computer grants access to National Instruments software.
  • Connect to the Real-Time target directly via Ethernet or USB.
  • If your computer has any services that could interfere with file transfers, consider disabling those services as a test while attempting to install software to the Real-Time target.
  • If that fails, consider reinstalling the driver for your Real-Time target on the host computer.
  • This can also be caused by a file transfer issue due to the size of the base.tar file that is sent via WebDAV. Increasing the WebDAV file transfer size in Windows could aid in this scenario.

Additional Information

In general, this behavior seems to be caused by firewalls, antivirus software, or other services blocking the transfer of necessary files for the Real-Time target software install. 

If you attempt to install software with the Install (VI), you may receive error -2147220324.
