NI 9265 Not Generating Current Output

Updated Dec 23, 2023

Reported In

Hardware

  • NI-9265

Driver

  • NI-DAQmx

Issue Details

I am trying to generate a current output using a NI 9265 module, but I am not receiving any output from the device. How can I fix this?

Solution

  1. Ensure that you have a supported version of NI-DAQmx installed.
  2. If tasks in LabVIEW, NI-MAX, or external code are not generating current output, self-test the device and use a test panel  for an analog output.
  3. The 9265 requires an external power supply to drive its outputs. Make sure you have connected an external supply between 9-36VDC for proper output.
  4. Ensure that you have your DMM that is measuring the current output connected in series to the correct pins. Refer to the NI 9265 Getting Started Guide . On page 11, the pinout shows the necessary connections for your signal.

Additional Information

The 9265 and some of NI's other current output modules require an external power supply to drive outputs. If your device is not outputting current and you think it may fall in this category, check the datasheet of your device.
