Installer Crash During Installation of National Instruments Software

Are there any methods to prevent my installer from crashing during the installation of National Instruments software?


NOTE: This behavior is only seen in NI Installers version 2.5x and previous. See KnowledgeBase 4CJDR18M: How Can I Determine the Version of my National Instruments Installer? to determine the NI Installers version of your NI software.

If a crash occurs during the installation of National Instruments software, there are a few methods listed below that can help to prevent a crash from occurring.

First, copy the installer to a location on the local hard drive and launch the installer again. If the installation still fails, reference the steps provided below along with the attachment provided.
  1. Unzip the to the desktop.
  2. Replace Your installer location\setup.exe with the setup.exe from
  3. Replace Your installer location\Bin\NISysInf.dll with the NISysInf.dll from
  4. Relaunch your installer.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, relaunch your installer in error log generation mode, and contact National Instruments Customer Support. Please provide the name of your Operating System, the name of the installer you are trying to launch, the error log file, and let the Applications Engineer know you have followed the steps in this KnowledgeBase article.

A force reinstall will potentially solve this issue if it was caused by a previous incomplete installation/uninstall of LabVIEW.
