Issue Details

Are there any methods to prevent my installer from crashing during the installation of NI software?

Solution

NOTE: This behavior is only seen in NI Installers version 2.5x and previous. See Determine Type and Version of My NI Installer to determine the NI Installers version of your NI software.

If a crash occurs during the installation of NI software, there are a few methods listed below that can help to prevent a crash from occurring.

First, copy the installer to a location on the local hard drive and launch the installer again. If the installation still fails, reference the steps provided below along with the attachment provided.
  1. Unzip the InstallerUpdates.zip to the desktop.
  2. Replace Your installer location\setup.exe with the setup.exe from InstallerUpdates.zip.
  3. Replace Your installer location\Bin\NISysInf.dll with the NISysInf.dll from InstallerUpdates.zip.
  4. Relaunch your installer.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, relaunch your installer in error log generation mode and contact NI Customer Support. Please provide the name of your Operating System, the name of the installer you are trying to launch, the error log file, and let the Applications Engineer know you have followed the steps in this KnowledgeBase article.

Additional Information

A force reinstall will potentially solve this issue if it was caused by a previous incomplete installation/uninstall of LabVIEW.
