Issue Details

I want to set the slew rate of my PXIe-4138/9.  How can I do this?

Solution

You cannot set the slew rate directly with the PXIe-4138/9, but you can control it indirectly through the Transient Response property of NI-DCPOWER driver.  This property allows you to set the transient response of the device to slow, normal, fast, or custom (NI PXIe-4139 only).  Using these four settings you can tune the PXIe-4138/9 to have faster or slower rise times and thus increase or decrease the slew rate.

If you are using the PXIe-4139, you can perform custom compensation to perform more fine tuning of the slew rate.  By setting the Transient Response property to Custom, you can alter three parameters: Gain-Bandwidth Product, Compensation Frequency, and Pole-Zero Ratio.  Manual experimentation is the most effective way to determine what values to set these properties to in order to obtain a given slew rate.
