Error 2053 Indicates Windows Could Not Start InsightCM™ Service

Issue Details

I am getting error 2053 when I start up InsightCM 3.0 or later. What is the cause of this error and how can I resolve it?

Solution

This error typically indicates a Windows service that is required by InsightCM is not running. First, try the following steps to start the System Management and Postgre SQL services. 

1.    In Windows Services, stop the NI Deployer for System Management Service and then restart service the NI System Management Service. You might receive "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." 
2.    NI SMS depends on the postgresql service to be running and the NI Deployer for System Management Service for deploying images to devices. 
3.    If image deployment is failing, confirm that NI Deployer for System Management Service is running. 
4.    Confirm that PostgreSQL service is running. If PostgreSQL fails to start, see below. 
5.    Start Postgre > Start NI SMS > Start NI Deployer for SMS 
6.    Restart main InsightCM Service and reload web application in browser 

Note: If the PostgreSQL Service is not running and cannot be started manually, contact National Instruments Support.
