Software

  • Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)

Issue Details

I have a RT PXI system and when I plug in my device, there's a red X next to my device in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). When I click on my device, I see the following error message:

Error -223805 occurred at Device Communication

Possible Reason(s)

Internal Software Error occurred in MIG Software. Please contact National Instruments support.

Solution

  • Check if the device driver is installed on the RT PXI system. You can find a list of software on the system by opening MAX and selecting your chassis, then Software.
  • If the device driver is not installed, download the needed device driver and install it on the RT PXI system. Drivers can be found at ni.com/drivers.
  • Make sure the device driver versions are the same on both the host PC and the RT PXI Controller. A device driver version mismatch can cause the same behavior.

Additional Information

This error can occur if a device driver has been uninstalled from the system. The entry for the device still appears in MAX since it was recognized correctly before the device driver was uninstalled. After the driver is uninstalled, the system will no longer be able to recognize the device and you may see this error in MAX.

This error can also occur due to a corrupt or incomplete driver installation, such as if the driver configuration software component was not installed. If that seems to be the case, then a reinstallation of the driver with all the necessary components should fix the issue.
