Issue Details

I've installed the Automotive Diagnostics Command Set and am trying to open or run the 'Diagnostic Demo ECU' application. I receive the following error:

How do I resolve this?

Solution

To use the Automotive Diagnostics Command Set (ADCS) programs, we will need to make sure we have either the NI-CAN or NI-XNET drivers installed, depending on the hardware we are using. These drivers can be found on NI's website. The ADCS examples interface directly with hardware, so we will need to use actual hardware as well.

If using NI-XNET, we will also need to locate the 'Open Diagnostic' function in the 'Diagnostic Demo ECU' VI:

and change the text input of the 'CAN Interface' input to 'CANX@ni.xnet_genie', where X corresponds to our CAN channel (as shown in NI MAX).

Make sure that on the front panel, we also select 'NI-XNET' as our Hardware Select option:

Additional Information

To find the source code for the Diagnostic Demo ECU, we will need to find the example in the LabVIEW example finder (Help >> Find Examples >> Search for 'Diagnostic Demo ECU').
