Issue Details

I was using NI Volume License Manager (VLM) based software licensing method so far. The NI VLM server computer is not connected to my development computer any more. Hence, I am using disconnected licensing method. When I launch my LabVIEW it hangs while trying to load. How can I fix this?

Solution

The hang may be as a result of loading/contacting the NI VLM server. Because, the client/development computer is configured to query the old VLM server for licenses.

Refer to the following steps to remove the old servers.ini file on NI license manager 3.9 or older:

1. Go to Start » All Programs » National Instruments » National Instruments License Manager on the Client/Development computer.

2. Remove the server list in Options » Preferences as shown below.

Refer to the following steps to remove the old servers.ini file on NI license manager 4.0 or later:
1. Go to Start » All Programs » National Instruments » National Instruments License Manager on the Client/Development computer.
2. Remove the server list in Options » Manage Volume License Servers as shown below.

Additional Information

You can also automate remove/modify process as this information is stored at <ProgramData>\National Instruments\License Manager\Data\servers.ini for Windows Vista and later.

For the previous versions of Windows versions you can modify windows registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager\NILM_LICENSE_FILE.
