Issue Details

When opening my NI OPC Server Configuration tool I get an error that states the following:

NI OPC Servers: Invalid or missing user information [data is corrupt]

What steps do I need to follow to correct this?

Solution

You are not using NI OPC Servers

NI OPC Servers installed with the LabVIEW DSC Module provides a temporary license for a two-hour evaluation period. You may receive this message if you have the LabVIEW DSC Module but are not using NI OPC Servers. In that case, you can uninstall NI OPC Servers and then will no longer see the message.

You are using NI OPC Servers

  1. First open your root directory ProgramData folder.
    • This folder is hidden so you will need to type it into the windows explorer. (Ex: C:\ProgramData)
  2. Navigate to ProgramData\National Instruments\NI OPC Servers\V20[xx]
  3. Locate your "userinfo" xml file and delete this file.
    • It might have a number concatenated to the end of the name (Ex: userinfo4).
  4. After deletion of the xml file, force reinstall NI OPC Servers from the command prompt. Ensure you have admin privileges when opening up the command prompt.
  5. It may be necessary to uninstall NI OPC Servers and [download NI OPC Servers and] install it again if the force reinstall process fails or if the behavior persists.
