Issue Details

When opening my NI OPC Server Configuration tool I get an error that states the following:

NI OPC Servers: Invalid or missing user information [data is corrupt]

What steps do I need to follow to correct this?

Solution

  1. First open your root directory ProgramData folder.
    • This folder is hidden so you will need to type it into the windows explorer. (Ex: C:\ProgramData)
  2. Navigate to ProgramData\National Instruments\NI OPC Servers\V20[xx]
  3. Locate your "userinfo" xml file and delete this file.
    • It might have a number concatenated to the end of the name (Ex: userinfo4).
  4. After deletion, use this document to force reinstall the NI OPC Server software from the command prompt. Ensure you have admin privileges when opening up the command prompt.

Additional Information

The NI OPC Servers application installed with the DSC Module provides a temporary license for a two-hour evaluation period. You may receive this message if you have the DSC Module but are not using the NI OPC Server. In that case, you can uninstall the NI OPC Server and then will no longer see the message

It may be necessary to remove NI OPC Servers and Install them again if the force reinstall process fails.
