Issue Details

  • I am not able to add my NI 9860 module under the FPGA target in a LabVIEW project. Is the module supported in the FPGA interface?
  • I am getting This C Series module is not supported by the installed versions of LabVIEW and NI CompactRIO Module Support message when adding module to FPGA target.

Solution

You cannot deploy the NI 986x C series modules beneath an FPGA target in a LabVIEW project.

However, on some CompactRIO targets, the 986x C series modules require an FPGA VI to be deployed to provide proper XNET support for themselves. This is the reason why the C Series Module Compatibility Chart indicates FPGA support for the NI 986x modules.

To do so, the cRIO/FPGA chassis has to be in hybrid mode for proper use. The correct setup steps for an NI-986x module are described in the Getting Started with CompactRIO section of the NI-XNET Manual.

Refer to the Supported platforms for XNET C Series modules section of the Readme for your version of NI-XNET to determine if an FPGA bitfile is necessary for your cRIO target.
