Issue Details

I am a software admin for a Volume License Agreement and am trying to start or renew my license server. When I select the license file that I received from NI, I get the error message:
Invalid File - Select a valid agreement license file.
Invalid License File.png

How do I resolve this error?

Solution

Your license file may have invalid metadata or incorrect server information.
  • Verify that the computer ID matches that of the server machine as well as the server name.
  • Verify that the MAC Address in the license file matched with the server's MAC Address.
    1. Run command prompt as Administrator
    2. Type ipconfig/all and press Enter.
    3. Refer to Physical Address and compare with MAC Address in the license file.
  • If you have updated your License Management Tool (i.e you were using FlexLM before and now you are using Volume License Manager) it could be possible that the information has not been reflected on our side, making the license file invalid for Volume License Manager. Inform your Agreements or Technical Support Representative if you have changed your Management Tools recently, and request a new license file for your current License Management Tool.

Otherwise, email services@ni.com and request a new license file.  The new license file will be sent to the system administrator associated with your license agreement.

Additional Information

A similar message will occur if the VLM License File is loaded into NI License Manager. NI License Manager is the client side license manager. Volume license files should be loaded to NI VLM.
