Issue Details

I'm trying to create an alarm in LabVIEW for a VeriStand system definition referencing a custom device channel. However, I can't seem to reference the channel correctly since I always get error 1057 when running the VI.

I can't seem to cast the channel to the right type. How do I fix this?

Solution

You can work around this by obtaining the custom device channel type, then using this to construct a new channel as a channel reference for your alarm. Below is a screenshot illustrating how to construct the new channel from the custom device section of the system definition file you are referencing.
