Issue Details

  • How can I activate my software if my computer is offline?
  • I can't login to my account when the NI proxy login pops up. Can I still activate my products without signing in?
  • When I open the software, the NI License Manager tries to connect to the internet, but fails and gives me the following error at the top of the Licensing Wizard screen: Could not connect to ni.com. It then asks me for a 20 character activation code. This computer is an offline computer. How can I activate my software?

Solution

If you or your organization has a volume license agreement with NI and you would like to apply it to an offline computer, follow the instructions on how to install a disconnected license. You will need to contact the software administrator at your company to do this.

For single seat licenses, you can activate your software offline by following the steps below:
  1. To activate the software, you will need your unique computer ID for the computer you're activating the software on, software serial number, and version of software installed on the computer. Verify this information is all correct, as activation codes are unique to their corresponding specific versions.
  2. Visit the NI Product Activation page on another computer. Fill out the fields on this page with the information corresponding to the offline computer and it will provide you with an activation code for use with that machine. You will need a separate activation code for each software product you would like to activate. If you do not have internet access on another computer, you can call National Instruments Support and request an activation code.
  3. Once you have obtained Activation Codes for your product(s), you can then open up NI License Manager and Click Activate Products

  4. Then exit out of the proxy login popup.

  5. Finally, you will be able to enter in your activation code.
