Issue Details

If I go in to resource manager in my PXI, it shows that a lot of my RAM is hardware reserved.

  1. Make sure you are using a 64-bit Operating System. If you are runnin a 32-bit version of Windows, you having over 4 GB of RAM memory available is not possible because of the Operating System's limitations.
    1. Even with the newest BIOS upgrade, the controller might still show half of the RAM memory reserved for hardware if the Operating System is not 64-bit capable. The reason relies on Windows itself, for more information visit: External Link: The usable memory may be less than the installed memory on Windows 7-based computers.
  2. Update the BIOS of your controller to the newest version available: PXIe-8133 BIOS for Bootable USB Drive NI recommends 1.2.3 or higher. Review the following document for more detailed instructions of this process: Determining and Upgrading PXI and VXI Embedded Controller BIOS Versions
