The NI-9860 is not supported in EtherCAT RIO Expansion Chassis nor in Ethernet RIO Expansion Chassis.
The NI‑9860 requires the NI‑XNET driver for CAN communication. EtherCAT and Ethernet RIO Expansion Chassis do not support NI‑XNET, and therefore cannot provide the required driver support for correct operation of the NI‑9860.
To use the NI‑9860, install it in a supported CompactRIO or PXI system that provides NI‑XNET support. Refer to the module documentation and system compatibility tables for a list of supported chassis and controllers.
