Issue Details

I am trying to activate LabVIEW 2017 in NI License Manager 4.0 using the serial number I have from my company's Enterprise Agreement (EA), but I keep getting errors. If I try to activate the software on the NI Product Activation webpage, I still get errors, like the one shown below.

How do I activate the software?

Instead of manually entering the serial number in NI Product Activation or in NI License Manager, you will need to set up a connection to the volume license server for your company in NI License Manager. Please refer to the article Access Volume License Server from a Client Machine for steps on how to set up the connection to your company's server.

This will require the server name, the server network name, or the server IP address. If you do not know any of these items, please contact your company's software administrator for more information. With NI License Manager 4.0, you may also find the software administrator's contact information at NI License Manager 4.0 >> Network Licenses and refer to the Administrator section on the left hand side.

If you have a user-based license, you will need to contact your software admin to be added as a user for the network license.

Additional Information

  • Many Enterprise Agreements license NI software such as LabVIEW through a volume license server
  • You can check to see if your network license is user-based by reviewing the License Model column for your License on the Network Licenses tab of NI License Manager 4.0
