Issue Details

I am using LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI with NI hardware. Where can I find example programs that are specific to my hardware or application?

All LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI examples are available in the NI Example Finder. There are a few options that can make finding the right examples for your hardware easier. You can also use these features to decide what hardware you need based on a particular example program that you want to use. You can access the NI Example Finder by opening LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI and selecting Help»Find Examples

Viewing Both LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI Examples:

After you open the example finder from either LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI, you can show examples for both by clicking on the Setup button in the bottom right of the NI Example Finder window. When the Configure Example Finder window pops up, select the Software tab and select or deselect LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI based on your preferences.

Limiting Results to Hardware:

If you have a particular National Instruments device that you want to find an example program for, then you can filter the Example Finder results based on the required hardware. If you already have the hardware installed on the computer then the easiest way to filter the results is by choosing Refresh Hardware List from the Hardware drop down menu.

After you refresh the hardware list, all of the hardware that you have installed on the computer should show up in the Hardware drop down menu. To filter the results for a particular device, select that device and check the Limit results to hardware box in the bottom left.

If you don't already have the hardware installed on your computer you can still filter the results for this device. To add a device you don't have installed, select Add device from the Hardware drop down menu. This will bring up the Configure Example Finder window:

Select the hardware you want to use from the left column and click the right-pointing arrow to move the device over to the right column. Click okay and the hardware in the right column will be in the Hardware drop down box.

Choosing Hardware Based on the Example you Want to use:

If you browse to a particular example that you want to use and you are not sure what hardware you need, the example finder will also list this information in the bottom right in the Requirements field. To view the hardware requirements for a particular example just highlight the example and Double-Click an example to open it. The appropriate requirements will populate on the right side of the NI Example Finder window.

In addition to the above methods you could also find the example using the directory or search options.

Directory Classification

Click on the Directory radix button to display the examples classified as per its presence in the "examples" directory. This "examples" directory is usually present at "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 20XX".

Example Search

Click on the Search tab, enter the name of the hardware (or application) to search for it in the examples database.
