Issue Details

I want to include a simulated device with my DAQmx installer. How do I do this?

Solution

You can include an NI MAX configuration in your installer that contains the simulated device using the following steps:

1. Open up the Installer configuration, and configure everything as usual

2. Include NI-DAQmx MAX Runtime with Configuration Support under Additional Installers. This will include DAQmx (and NI MAX) in your installation. It will prompt you to select the DAQmx media, you can just download the driver from our website and point to that installation folder if you don't already have it. To minimize the prompt each time you build the installer, look at this KB. Alternatively, you could have the end user download NI-DAQmx separately.

3. Under the 'Hardware Configuration' tab, check the box that says 'Include hardware configuration from MAX'. Follow the prompts to create a new configuration file to include with the installation, and select any simulated devices you currently have set up. Note that we can change the 'Import Mode' to prompt the user through the installation, or to install the configuration file in the background.

4. Build the installer, and deploy it!

Additional Information

There is a currently known issue with deploying a simulated DAQ device silently. Look out for Corrective Action Request (CAR) # 684421 in future releases of LabVIEW to see if this bug has been fixed.
