"No Software Installed" on CompactRIO

Issue Details

When I look at my CompactRIO (cRIO) in the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), I see the message: No software installed. If I monitor the serial port on the cRIO, I don't get the response I expect. How can I remedy this?


When you receive your cRIO from the factory, or after formatting the disk, you'll need to install software to it from NI MAX. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open NI MAX.
  2. Find your cRIO under the Remote Systems tab.
  3. Click the dropdown tab next to your cRIO and right-click the Software tab.
  4. Click Add/Remove Software.
This will bring you to the software installation wizard.

Alternatively, you can use the Replication and Deployment (RAD) Utility to create and deploy saved software images from your Real-Time controller.
