Compatibility of Ethernet to USB Adapters with NI Products

Issue Details

  • Will an Ethernet to USB adapter be able to connect NI products to a PC with full functionality? 
  • I am using a third-party USB-Ethernet adapter with NI Linux Real-Time CompactRIO, but it seems I cannot fix the IP address. The IP address changes every time I re-insert the adapter after I remove it from the CompactRIO USB host port. Is there any way I can make the IP address static?
     

Solution

Because Ethernet to USB adapters are not NI products, they are not officially supported. Many users have reported that they have not experienced any issues when using NI products with Ethernet to USB adapters, but NI cannot guarantee expected behavior when using such adapters.
