Discontinuous Clock with 6583 STROBE Input

Issue Details

  • I'm trying to use the "NI 6583 Continuous Acquisition DDR - External Clock"
  • An example is when I feed the strobe input a discontinuous clock the application does not behave properly
  • Is this expected? What can I do to resolve this?

Solution

  • Incorrect behavior is expected with a discontinuous clock
  • The root cause is FPGA controls and indicators will not work properly when using an discontinuous external clock cause the rest of the application to behave improperly
  • A solution would  be to use inter-SCTL communication mechanisms in the SCTL loop, to communicate to the FPGA controls and indicators in a loop not based on an external discontinuous clock to achieve the same functionality
