Sync Out of Range Error on Monitor Connected to PXI(e) Controller

Issue Details

When I turn on my PXI(e) controller with the monitor attached, I get a Sync Out of Range error when loading into Windows. 

Solution

When your PXI(e) controller loads into Windows, it uses the default video settings for the display resolution and frequency. If your monitor cannot handle the default settings, then it will display the Sync Out of Range error on the monitor.

To resolve this, follow the steps below to lower the video settings. 
 
  1. Restart the controller by powering off the PXI(e) chassis and powering it back on.
  2. Upon reboot, hold the F8 key and select Safe Mode. 
  3. Navigate to the display settings. 
  • Windows 10: Right-click on desktop >> Display settings
  • Windows 7: Right-click on desktop >> Screen resolution
  1. Set the resolution to 640x480 or 800x600. 
  2. Navigate to the advanced settings, set the screen refresh rate to 60 Hz, and click Apply.
  • Windows 10: Display settings >> Display adapter properties >> select Monitor tab
  • Windows 7: Screen resolution >> Advanced Settings >> select Monitor tab
6.    Reboot. You can raise the resolution settings again once you’ve rebooted. 

The other option is test with a different monitor, preferably a newer and larger one.
