Initial Voltage Spike on Analog Output of USB 6002 Device

Issue Details

I'm using an analog output signal from the USB and connecting it to the sound line in from the back of the computer. At the start of the acquisition, I see a voltage spike and then a slopping line before settling at the voltage I expect to see. How do I get rid of this?

Solution

This could be caused by several things
  • The power up voltage of this device is 0V. Thus, there could be a short voltage ramp up during startup which can cause the spike and then slow settling.
  • USB 6002 is one of the simpler DAQ devices so it has low accuracy.
A workaround of this would be to use a filter such as a Butterworth filter to only allow the expected signal to be shown.
