Issue Details

When I plug in my GPIB-USB device, I see the device listed in NI MAX, but it says:

Windows does not have a driver associated with your device.

Solution

It is likely that you need a version of NI-488.2 which supports your GPIB-USB device. Make sure that your NI-488.2 driver is compatible with your operating system. If you are using LabVIEW to interface with your device, the driver must also be compatible with your version of LabVIEW. To ensure that your driver supports your hardware, check your driver version's Readme under the Supported Hardware section. The Readme can be found on the download page.

If the correct drivers are already installed, it may be that the installation was corrupted. You can resolve this by performing a repair or  force re-installation of the software

If you require a 488.2 driver version prior to 17.6 for Windows, you will need to reach out NI Support to request the specific driver version. It will be helpful to have your GPIB device's serial number when calling in.

Additional Information

  • GPIB-USB-A/B/HS/HS+ devices are supported in Windows 10 for NI-488.2 versions 15.5 and higher.
