Does My NI Device Comply with the Latest RoHS Directive?

Updated Apr 10, 2019

Issue Details

Our company has incorporated an NI product into our custom device. We are seeking the CE mark for our device. We therefore need to know if the NI board complies with the latest Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.

Where can I find the appropriate product documentation for RoHS compliance of an NI device?

Solution

Please visit our Product Certification page and enter the model number of your device to view a list of all product certifications and documentation, including RoHS. If you cannot find your product on the certification page, contact National Instruments support for assistance in verifying RoHS compliance.

You can learn more about National Instruments products and the RoHS conversion at National Instruments RoHS FAQ.

Additional Information

The current RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, known as RoHS 2, replaced 2002/95/EC (RoHS 1) back in 2011 and took effect in 2013. NI products fall under Industrial Monitoring and Control Instruments within Category 9, which came into scope July 22, 2017. The Directive (2015/863/EU) amended Annex II to the EU RoHS 2 Directive (2011/65/EU) to add 4 phthalates on the list of restricted substances. Products in Category 9 are given a grace period to comply by July 22nd, 2021. Consequently, most of NI's products are outside the scope of the RoHS Directive (2015/863/EU) until that date. You can find this and more information on this topic at this RoHS FAQ page .
