Where to Find LabVIEW FPGA or Real-Time 64-bit Modules?

Issue Details

  • When trying to access my Real-Time or CompactRIO Target in LabVIEW 64-bit, I get a warning stating:
Unsupported Item: LabVIEW cannot currently load the selected item. The required module, driver, or plug-in either is not installed or has an expired license. Ask the creator of the item or its project what software it requires. Contact NI for help identifying the software.
  • I can't find any installers for a 64-bit version of the LabVIEW FPGA Module or the LabVIEW Real-Time Module, only those for 32-bit version of LabVIEW. Where can I download 64-bit versions of these modules?

  • Currently, there is no 64-bit version of the LabVIEW Real-Time Module. To use Real-Time, you must have a 32-bit version of LabVIEW installed.
    • Note: Please install LabVIEW FPGA Module 32-bit if your hardware requires LabVIEW Real-Time Module support.
  • Up to LabVIEW 2017 SP1, there was no 64-bit version of the LabVIEW FPGA Module and you could not use the 32-bit FPGA Module with LabVIEW 64-bit. To use a pre-2018 version of the FPGA Module, you need to have a 32-bit version of LabVIEW installed.
  • A 64-bit version of the LabVIEW FPGA Module was released in 2018.
    • Note: LabVIEW FPGA Module 64-bit only supports a subset of the hardware supported in the 32-bit version of the module. Refer to the LabVIEW 2018 FPGA Module Readme for a list of supported hardware in the 64-bit version of the module.

Additional Information

  • LabVIEW 32-bit can be installed in parallel to a LabVIEW 64-bit version.
  • You can use the same activation key for both the 64 and 32-bit version.
  • You can install LabVIEW 32-bit on your 64-bit operating system.
  • The order of installation of the modules and necessary drivers is important. Find more information in this article: Install NI Software for Your CompactRIO System
