Unsupported Item Error Using LabVIEW 64-bit With NI Real-Time Target

Solution

This error can occur when (1) your FPGA or Real-Time modules are not activated or (2) when the bitness of LabVIEW Development System, LabVIEW Real-Time Module, and/or LabVIEW FPGA Module do not match.

1. Ensure that your modules have been activated properly in NI License Manager.
2. Check the bitness of the software you are using. LabVIEW and the modules used with it must match in bitness and in version. You can check what release version and bitness of LabVIEW you are using and update your modules as needed. 
   • The version of LabVIEW you are using and the modules that you need will determine whether you can continue using 64-bit software or should switch to 32-bit software (as 64-bit modules are not available for every LabVIEW version).

LabVIEW Real-Time Module

• Note: LabVIEW Real-Time Module 64-bit only supports a subset of the hardware supported in the 32-bit version. 

LabVIEW FPGA Module

LabVIEW FPGA Module 64-bit is available as of version 2018. Prior versions offer LabVIEW FPGA Module in 32-bit.
If you are using a version of LabVIEW earlier than 2018, you must use LabVIEW 32-bit if FPGA Module is required.

• Note: LabVIEW FPGA Module 64-bit only supports a subset of the hardware supported in the 32-bit version of the module. Refer to the readme for your version of FPGA Module for a list of supported hardware in the 64-bit version of the module.

Additional Information

• LabVIEW 32-bit can be installed in parallel with a LabVIEW 64-bit version.
• You can use the same activation key for both the 64 and 32-bit versions.
• You can install LabVIEW 32-bit on your 64-bit operating system.
