Issue Details

I have installed all software requirements mentioned in the getting started guide, and want to use R Series Multifunction RIO device in LabVIEW. But I can't add my device to the project. I install NI R Series Multifunction RIO device driver and know that it is compatible with LabVIEW version.

How can I add a R Series Multifunction RIO device device to LabVIEW project?

Solution

Check what driver version you are using.

Several NI hardware (CompactRIO, CompactDAQ, Single-Board RIO, R Series, and EtherCAT) requires not only device driver compatibility but also correspondence with LabVIEW and add-on modules.

Case 1:
NI R Series Multifunction RIO 17.0.1 is compatible with LabVIEW 2014 SP1, 2015 SP1, 2016, 2017, but LabVIEW compatibility of PXIe-7846R is LabVIEW 2016 or later.

Case 2:
NI PCI-7833R is not supported with the NI R Series Multifunction RIO 17.0 driver. The device supports LabVIEW and LabVIEW FPGA Module version 7.1 to 2016. Then, it must use NI-RIO 1.3 to NI R Series Multifunction RIO Device Drivers August 2016.

To check the compatibility of your device and software, refer to Software Support for CompactRIO, CompactDAQ, Single-Board RIO, R Series, and EtherCAT.
