Issue Details

My NI-8451 shows up in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) under USB devices, but does not show up in the NI-845x I2C I/O resource control in LabVIEW. How can I access my NI-8451 from LabVIEW?

With version 1.0 of the NI-845x driver, the NI-8451 will not show up automatically in the I/O resource control or constant. To access the NI-8451 from LabVIEW for now, you need to create a VISA alias for it in MAX, and then copy and paste, or manually type that alias into LabVIEW. To create an alias in MAX, find the entry for the NI-8451 under USB devices as shown below.
Either right click the device and select Rename Alias or select the General Tab and type in an alias for the device, and click Save.  The device should now look like the figure below.
Take your alias and copy and paste or type into the I/O resource control in LabVIEW, and you can access your device from LabVIEW.
