USB Device Not Recognized

One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.

Which NI driver do I need to install to recognize and communicate to a device connected using a GPIB-USB-HS?

This issue has been noticed when USB 1.1 devices are also plugged into the USB 2.0 bus. This setup can cause the entire bus to operate in USB 1.1 mode, which will cause the USB 2.0 device, such as the GPIB-USB-HS, not to be recognized and work properly.

  1. Ensure you have the NI-488.2 driver installed on your machine. Check that the compatible version of NI-488.2 is installed.
  2. Remove the USB 1.1 devices from the USB bus.
    1. You might also try unplugging all your USB devices and plugging in just your GPIB-USB-HS device.
    2. Your computer might need to reboot in order to detect again all the devices connected to the USB bus.
  3. Check your antivirus and firewall settings, as they might be blocking the driver to access the bus.
  4. Check to make sure the NI 488.2 Enumeration Service is turned on. You can access this by going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  5. If you are still experiencing the same behavior, please see Troubleshooting Hardware Installation Problems .
