I have downloaded the instrument drivers for my LeCroy Waveseries oscilloscope, but still cannot open a VISA session while connecting over Ethernet.

How do I use the LeCroy Waveseries oscilloscope connected by Ethernet?

To use the LeCroy Waveseries oscilloscopes over ethernet, follow the below mentioned steps.

  1. Download and install the Teledyne LeCroy VICP Passport for NI-VISA. Refer to the LeCroy's software downloads website
  2. Restart computer after installing even if not prompted to do so.
  3. Use the correct VICP descriptor instead of VISA (e.g., VICP::<ip address>::INSTR).
  4. If you continue to have issues with your LeCroy instrument in NI MAX or LabVIEW, try updating to the latest NI-VISA driver.
  5. Optional: Refer to the VICP Readme.txt for further troubleshooting notes.

Suggested troubleshooting steps -

  • Make sure that your firewall, user privileges and antivirus settings allow the National Instruments components necessary for communication.
  • Verify that the VICP Passport has been enabled in the list of passports configured for use on the system. Navigate to NI-MAX >> Tools >> NI-VISA >> NI VISA Options >> General Settings >> Passports and enable VICP Passport's dll.
