Unable to Locate the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine Error When Installing an Application Using DSC

Issue Details

I get the error Unable to locate LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. when I run an application that was built with DSC module features. I installed the application using an installer also built in LabVIEW and have already included the LabVIEW Run-Time in my installer. How do I resolve this error?

Distributing an application that uses Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) module features such as logging, alarming, security, or programmatic Shared Variable configuration requires that you follow these steps when building an installer for your application.
  1. The DSC Module Run-Time System (RTS) must be installed on the target machine for the application to run properly.
  2. Make sure you have checked Enable Enhanced DSC Run-Time Support on the Advanced tab of the application build specification for your project.
  3. Make sure you have selected Enhanced DSC Deployment Support for LabVIEW 8.x on the Additional Installers page of the installer build specification for your project. This option does not include the DSC Module Run-time System installer. Even though this option is checked you must install and license the DSC RTS on the target computer to use your built application.

Additional Information

If your application uses a subset of the DSC Module that does not require the RTS, it is still necessary to include the Enhanced DSC Deployment Support in your installer.  For more information about which DSC functionality requires the RTS and which does not, refer to the related links.
