Issue Details

Can I change the network settings on the ATCA?

Solution

Network settings on the ATCA can either be changed temporarily or permanently; the steps are listed below.

Note: Permanently changing the IP address has the possibility of creating an inaccessible system if you lose the address that the ATCA was changed to

For permanent changes after reboot:
  1. Connect to to our ATCA chassis as we would access the shell on NI Linux Real-Time device
Note:
  • The default IP address of the ATCA-3671 is 192.168.0.75
  • The for the user we should log into the root instead of admin
  1. Modify the file /etc/network/interfaces
  • After logging into the shell, mentioned in step one, you can run the command below to see the contents of the file

cat /etc/network/interfaces

  • The contents should look like the following:

# Wired interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.75
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.0.0
gateway 192.168.0.1

  • To modify the contents of the file you can use VI editor in the session

For temporary changes:
  1. Connect to to our ATCA chassis as we would access the shell on NI Linux Real-Time device
Note:
  • The default IP address of the ATCA-3671 is 192.168.0.75
  • The for the user we should log into the root instead of admin
  1. Once logged into the device we can run the following commands to change the address

ip addr 10.16.33.220/23 dev eth0
ip addr del 192.168.0.75/24 dev eth0
