PXI Chassis Appears in NI MAX As PXI System (Unidentified)

Issue Details

  • My PXI chassis does not appear in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) how I expect it to.
  • There is an entry for PXI System (Unidentified). Is this my chassis? How do I get it to appear correctly?

Solution

Right-click on the PXI System and choose to Identify as >> Your chassis model as shown below:


 

You may need to reboot your computer and then Windows should find the devices automatically. This only applies to PXI specific chassis, not PXI Express chassis.

Additional Information

If you are using MAX 2.x or earlier, PXI Chassis, themselves, will not show up unless you are using a Combo Chassis, in which case there is an SCXI portion that you can add manually.
