Issue Details

I have an application and I am accessing with Remote Front Panels through Mozilla Firefox. Everything worked correctly until I upgraded Firefox to version 21. I am now receiving a Missing Plugin warning in my browser. Why did this happen and how do I fix it?

Solution

  • Firefox Version 51 or Earlier:
After the upgrade, the Remote Front Panel plug-in no longer appears on the list of installed plugins.  To check this list, type "about:plugins" in the URL bar.  This will bring up a list of the plugins associated with your browser.  Notice the listing for the LabVIEW plugin is missing.

  • There are two ways that you can fix this behavior:

              1. You can run this Firefox utility to restore the plug-ins that no longer work.

               2. You can make the Remote Front Panel plugin work by changing the configuration in Firefox.  This option will require you to change one of the hidden options in Firefox.
To do this, enter "about:config" in the URL bar and scroll down to "plugins.load_appdir_plugins".  Double-click on this row to change the value from false to true.
Restart Firefox and your Remote Front Panel plug-in should now appear in the plug-ins list and your application should now be viewable.
